Not the best linear introduction, but excellent treatment of practical Kabbalah in particular, by the inventor of contemporary academic study of Kabbalah. This edition of the text of Sefer Yesira has been a long time coming. Personally, I think that agnostics and atheists could benefit from learning Kabbalah, and they may not believe in any form of a personal God at all. A final chapter addresses today’s controversies concerning mysticism’s place within Judaism and its potential for enriching the Jewish religion.
